A few days ago, a long-awaited wish of the Ansible Tower followers finally came true!
Red Hat released Ansible Tower as open source community project, called AWX.
It builds the new upstream project and the community plans to release new builds approximately every two weeks. Ansible published a FAQ to answer some questions.
The AWX source code is available on Github under the Apache License 2.0.
To keep you up-to-date, just join the IRC channel and subscribe the mailing list.
But wait… some of you don’t know Ansible Tower / AWX
AWX provides a web-based user interface, REST API, and task engine built on top of Ansible
Here is a function overview:
- Dashboard
- Job Scheduling
- Workflows
- Self-Service Portal
- Remote Execution
- Audit Trail
- Notifications
- REST API
- Access Control (role-based)
What are you waiting for?
Check out the installation guide and run your own and free AWX instance. For further help, check the official documentation.
